Geantet Emilie-Cote de Nuits Villages 2017
Hautes Cotes de Nuits
This winery was founded in 2005 by Emilie Geantet, the daughter of Vincent Geantet, the head of the Domain Geantet-Pansiot family. After graduating from university, Emilie worked with her father, Vincent, reinforcing her training in wine making by modeling her approach to the job on her father’s style before deciding to set up a business of her own in which she could exercise her talents in winemaking. The style is the very similar to Geantet-Pansiot as winemaking is carried out by Emilie and her father. The grapes are harvested from the 3.5 hectares of vineyard of one contracted grape grower in Brochon, Gevrey-Chambertin and Fixin. After the grapes are carefully selected by Emilie, they are picked over again by a fruit sorter before destemming and fermentation．Conscious of traditional techniques, remontage and pigeage is carried out twice a day. 30% of the wine is aged for 12-13 months in new barrels and the rest in 1 or 2 year old barrels. It is lightly filtered with no lees extraction, and then bottled. For this young wine maker, the excellent results are due to a severe selection of the grapes as well as a vinification favoring the expression of the fruit.
